Tonight my O/D Off light began to blink on my 97 Mustang 3.8L
I started my car a drove a few minutes, then it started to blink, the OD was on. I then pressed the OD button to turn it off, but it was still blinking. Turned OD back on, still blinking, never stopped.
It turns off after I turn off then restart the car, but then it starts to blink again about 5 minutes later.

Can someone tell me what may be going on?
Only thing I can think of is a fuse . . . do you have an aftermarket stereo?

Not anymore, it was stolen a few weeks ago and I put the stock back in after removing the aftermarket wire harness.
I ran a forum search for this problem and found that one other person had this problem. He was told by Autozone that it was a bad speed sensor after they pulled the code on it.

Tell me what you guys think about that one.
Thanks again...........
Ok, that makes sense. but they usually don't go out.
Aftermarket stereo installers use fuses that are always on, so that's where I was going . ..
Does it have an aftermarket cruise control?

There are no aftermarket electronics in the car. The stereo that was stolen, I put it in using a Wal-Mart harness, but like I said, I pulled that out after it was stolen, becasue the stock didn't use the same harness.
I'm going to take it into the dealer tomorrow morning for an oil leak-down test, so I'll tell them to check this out also. I'll let you guys know what I find out.
Thanks Tom, let us know. I was thinking speed control sensor too due to the fact that there are no cruise control lights on the dash. Does that bother anybody? Maybe I'm just being anal.....

yeah, it's probably a speed sensor, if that's what it shows, -I'm not saying they never go out -it's just unusual . . .

I noticed the problems the other day, but I screwed up my shoulder Saturday afternoon. I was on the Toys For Tots motorcycle charity rider here in SA and I got t-boned at low speed and took a tumble. The shoulder hurts real bad and its hard to move, so f-it took it into the shop.
I'd still see how high in the air you can get the loaner. Also trying those tranny drops at 5k would be good.....
Well at least it you hurt youself for a good cause. I call that "taking one for the team." I used to dress up as a cartoon character every year for a childrens Christmas party. I still have a picture around here as me dressed as Chucky. Maybe the could be my photo here-although nobody would believe my advice.
We got our t-locks in today, and picking up my Mustang from the body shop. I stll have your part which I will mail to you after Christmas just in case I get anything else in my stocking. My Son has the same year Mustang as you. His name is Shine1Stang in the forums here. That was my old one that I sold to him.
