Default Question About Limited Slip

I have a question for anybody that has added limited slip to there car. How much of a performance difference could you tell?, and did it make it harder in cornering?

Thanks

Performance diffrerence is that the power goes to both wheels so better traction now if you go from a 3.27 gear to a 3.73 or a 4.10 you will rev quicker and have more torque to the wheel . Limited slip differentiald all corner just fine, thats what comes stock on the GT mustangs .

if you go up thte Parts/Tech thread, there are a lot of sites you price them out. A Ford Racing LSD will run 200 - 300 depending on the site and is good to about 400HP. I hear the Auburn diff is a real good one also, but costs about 100 - 200 more. There's also a Detroit LSD, not the locker that runs a bit more than the Auburn, but is supposed to be the best.

I'm going to stick with the Ford Racing LSD though, B/C of price and I'm not going to be installing power adders to bring it up that high.

It's your choice of coarse but the Ford differentials still have the same problem ,the spyder gears are weak thats what usually breaks on a 7.5, the Detroit True Trac with a T/A girdle is a great combo unless you are going to upgrade to an 8.8 .

I picked mine up for $170 at GEF Racing (Ford Racing wholesaler) -pick up a catalogue and look for the wholesalers near you.

Remember though, that the FR unit uses clutches and will need rebuilding/clutch replacement every so often (usually 30,000-40,000 miles of city driving -longer if you drive mainly on the highway), the Detroit Locker & Auburn units don't require rebuilding.

you should rebuild it or have someone rebuild it for you.

You need to replace the clutch plates.
