what are some of the problems i would be having if it was fried or how can i tell if it is fried??
Everything you're describing points to a fried MAF.
The only realy way to tell is to swap it (unless you run it in for diagnostics) it'll likely be cheaper to swap it.

$100.00 Dashnizit? Call one of the big box auto stores. I looked up Advance, and they wanted $130.00 for a remanufactured one. I think we have the 4-pin.
CAI back in?? what do u mean? i called a junk yard John Auto Parts im my area and they said its $100 and i looked up online at checker auto and they want anywheres from $150 - $300 for one
That's right, put the K&N back in..... Anywhere else around there that would have it? Autozone? I just can't see spending $100.00 on something that the parts guy (or his grease monkey mechanic) might touch with his fingers and not guarantee it because it's an electrical sensor, that's all.

Should be less than 50% of cost for a remanufactured one.
The only problem is if you buy a remanufactured one, and that's not the problem, you're stuck with it -I suppose there's always e-bay! you can sell it there . . .
It may be cheaper to have a diagnostic run, and just know for sure what the deal is.

If you can't get it for less than $25, just get a diagnostic.
It will be cheaper than buying a new/used unit, and then find out it's not what's messed up.
Heck, take it in for an "oil change" and casually mention the problem. You might get the diagnostic done for free.

what does a diagnostic usually run for cost wise??? roughly like how much?
It varies, in Arkansas it was $60, here it's $90.
I usually get them for free, but I have a relationship with the Service dept.
