That bites KS. Too bad you live so far away, I would have been over there in a heartbeat. Dealers really love to stick it to you. I deal with them everyday with the trucks here at work. I had a van that needed an intake manifold gasket. They called me up to inform me that someone had cut and spliced the wires for the IAC. Of course they were the only ones that have ever worked on it, so they tried to charge me for the sensor and harness along with an hour of labor at $85.00. I told them that they can replace the harness, but better not charge me for the labor or the sensor considering it is off already.
Reality kind of set in when you fired up the Focus? I can send you a window sticker to add the extra HP to get you out of the snow..... I stare at my car every morning before leaving for work, and it kills me not to drive it. Maybe I'll move somewhere warm when my house sells. I'm currently in the downsizing mode because it is only my Daughter and myself living in a huge 4 bedroom home. I don't need all that room anymore, and it will free up assets for the SC install.
I like the Focus, It's a great city car, and it's a stick. It just sits and spins the wheel anytime it's on sand or snow.
It really needs a LSD, or something. I can't believe people recommend a Focus as a winter car. I get around a LOT better in my Mustang.
The dang focus tried to kill me a couple of days ago when it started pulling me into traffic.

There's nothing really to do except wait for parts. If I didn't insist on Made in the USA, I'd probably have them by now . . . I won't be able to buy an alternator until next month maybe.
I'm going to borrow my dad's battery charger and hook it up every night until then, I think.

Wow that really sucks, i was looking at the morana electric water pump, what do you think about that? could i still use the motoblue underdrive crank pulley?
yeah, the pulley sizes are the same - on the electric, it's just a little wheel that spins.
You may want to do some research on the durability of the electric pump. Some OEMs are using them, so it may have increased in the past 20 years (I don't doubt it).
20 years ago they were for race engines only, things have changed since then, but you should look up the warranty, duty rating, and see how other people using it have done . ..

Well, it's given me time to take some pics and update my Yahoo profile . .. .

yeah thats true, i wish my car was down here with me at college, i have to wait till i go home to take pictures and work on it. just gives me more time to acquire new parts to play with, i got some blue led lights that go in the dome and map lights, i think it'll look pretty good, eventually i will paint some engine parts blue too.
Im thinking about painting the door trim where the window and lock buttons are comp orange too, i think that'll turn out pretty good.
you're gonna have to use some Bronco's graphics to tie it all together . ..

hey ks you ngk iridium spark plugs right, i put mine in, and it has been running fine, but last night me service engine soon came on, had it read at autozone, they gave me PO171 O2 sensor and PO174 Mass Air Flow, also misfire, and fuel injectors errors. I was wondering if it had to do with my spark plugs, it hasn't given me an error from my exhaust or my cold air intake. I was wondering if it might be a dirty MAF or something. The people at autozone said with only 32000 miles it was too early for a maf or O2 sensor to go bad. I am pretty sure its the plugs, but just wanted to see what you thought. Thanks for the help.

Nah, I clean my MAF every 6,000 miles. With a paper element, 32,000 would be considered low . . .
What wires are you using?

ok guys i wanna save some $$ by doing the work myself!! but questions for ya.... the IMRC, the guy at the shop when i had it there said that the scanner or whatever they use was showing the IMRC not functioning at all. 1st question what exactly is the IMRC and what is its purpose, like what does i control??? 2nd question, being that he said it wasnt funtioning at all, would that mean i probably need a new one or what would cause it to not be functioning at all??? i was lookin in my haynes manual but the diagrams it says to refer to are of an earlier year 3.8 so the motor styles are different!! where would the IMRC be located at?? help would be great thanks guys!!

The IMRC is the Intake Manifold Runner Control valve. It's in the lower intake manifold, and it's function is to close the short intake runners (there's two intakes per cylinder -one long runner for torque production, and one short runner for increased hp) to increase the torque of the engine.
It gives you 20+- additional ft/lbs of torque at low rpm.
If the short runner is closed, your engine won't get the air it needs to make power -it's basically breathing through a straw.

thanks for that info KS but it didnt explain to me or show me where the IMRC is located and nore did it show me what it looks like!! and they mechanic said its not functioning at all so does that mean i need to replace it, can it be replaced, or what is making it not function at all?? what do i have to do to get it funtioning properly?? is there something causing it to not work or why isnt it working?? help would be great guys!! thanks again for all the info u guys have givin me so far... it all has helped me learn alot!!!

It's in the lower intake manifold.
see the lumps on the side of the upper intake manifold? Those are the short runners -under those are a series of butterfly valves that open and close -open when your at wide open throttle or otherwise needed, closed otherwise.
It's operated by suction when the engine sucks more air - it sucks the valves open. The vacuum lines are shown in the diagram -check & make sure they're connected and in good shape
If they're not, then your problem is solved. If they are connected and in good shape, something's gummed them up.
You can try to run carb cleaner through the intake, or take the upper intake off and then spray/inspect the valves.
The shop here charges $80 or so to clean the intake system.
While you have it off you may want to install an intake spacer to increase the volume -it's good for 9/hp & tq.

thanks KS for the info but u said the vacuum lines are shown in the diagram.... what diagram are you refering to? I have recently ran seafoam through the intake using the PCV valve!! i will try doing that again and see if that helps and i will look into installing a spacer also cause i could use all the extra HP & torque i can get!!
A. Disconnect the vacuum hose at the back of the manifold
B. Unplug the IAC (Idle Air Control) Solenoid
C. Disconnect the Evaporative Emissions return tube
D. Unplug the throttle position sensor
E. Remove the 2 bolts and the bracket
F. Remove the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) tube
G. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the brake booster
H. Remove the screws for the coil pack and set it aside
I. Unplug the 2 vacuum tubes at the front of the manifold
