1997 V6 Mustang Posi Traction and 4:10 Gears Install? Advise and Info Needed!
hey, i want to put a posi on my stang but i don't really know much about it. can any one tell me more about it and any recommendations on buying one. i also want to buy 4.10 gears. thanxs for da help
most cars and trucks don't have true posi units they have limited slip units, this helps with turning. sure a lot of trucks are running 4:10 rearends I believe even the aerostar came with a 4:10 unit but do you intend to pull tree stumps or use your car to pull a trailer or is it a 1/4 mile demon. a 4:10 gear ratio will cause your motor to rev higher at highway speeds unless you have really tweaked the horsepower up or if your transmission is geared up differently and highway speeds will kill your gas mileage either way. My advice is to think hard and find a good gear man to talk to.
If your car is a AODE you will notice a nice improvement. If a 5speed don't go lower than a 3.73. I would find a 8.8 from a GT and just switch rears. It is something you can do yourself and you get a Trac-Loc and can probably find one with 3.73 or 4.10.

the tig is that when i burn some rubber, my car only burns from the right side back wheel and i would like it to burn from both sides. i heard somebody mention a posi somewher but i trully don't even know what it is or wuts it does

my budget right now is about 1200 but ima keep saving cause i want to buy a procharger supercharger. i was also thinking on replacing my engine with a 99 engine. i've seen one in ebay for like 300 but i don't know if there's a site with cheapper ngines

check your local salvage yard, they're going from 75-400 dollars around here.
