your car is 5 years old, it's tough to get satisfaction on a car they want you to trade in.

I drive all kinds of folks to the dealership (+ get $50 for the referral) so my dealer wants to keep me happy. I rarely pay for anything out of the ordinary . . .

My regional rep oked a brand new engine on a used focus that I didn't get from the dealership, and was destroyed by a underengine cold air intake that sucked up a bunch of water.

That's the only explanation I can come up with . ..

Ya, makes sense. Guess some aftermarket headers would be the cheapest route to go.

They certainly won't be the cheapest. For better than OEM quality (not the cheap stuff) it will cost you $400 or more.

If it's cheaper than that, it's got the same material as the OEM stuff with little power benefits.

American Muscle, or one of those sells them for around $200. Try GEF racing, too.

See if you can get a set from a salvage yard if possible and replace them yourself. It is pretty easy and all you need are some hand-tools.

If you can't find any, then the next cheapest/easiest route would be a set of shorty headers, because they are direct replacement. You don't need to modify anything.

If you get a set from salvage, send them for Jet-hot coating, to make sure they don't crack again.

Wow, thanks all. I was looking at the shorty headers as they are cheap. Where I live (condo) I have nowhere to work on the car so I have to have someone else do it. I think I will pickup headers and take it to a exh shop. Probably be the cheapest way out of this mess.

BS, that they have a blatently defective part and will not do #$^^ about it...

EDIT: Any recommendations on Shorty Headers?

The best quality ones come from BBK or JBA.

What is a good labor total to have 2 headers installed? One place just quoted me $650us for labor alone, over $1000 with parts! I have another place that said $850 for stock manifolds installed... That seems to be the best so far.
