Default 1994 v6 mustang airbag light

I have a 94 v6 mustang whose airbag light comes on at startup and randomly blinks at idle and while driving. I am guessing it is the airbag module or crash sensors. I did not check to see if there was a code to the number of flashes - like the old gm diagnostics if anyone's familiar. Where would the best place to get these parts be if it was the crash sensor or module - some on ebay were $500+ for the V8, and is the v8 and v6 ones interchangable?

I just picked up this car for relatively cheap and see that there is some radiator support damage - so a collision was possible although the previous owner denies any major accidents.

Thanks for your help.

John

Check your fuse box to see if they just pulled out the air bag fuse.

I may be able to help with this one as mine is doing the same thing. I checked with Ford and was told that there are no crash sensors in the car forward of the firewall as it is found in the module behind the radio/HVAC controls - not easy to get to but with some work it is possible to pull it without ripping the dash apart. Try changing that first (either buy a take out around $200-300.00 or new one from Ford for much more) but be sure to disconnect the battery before doing so or you will be risking the purchase of an airbag. The other thing I was told is to check the clock spring in the steering wheel as it may have been messed up for one reason or another in the wreck (I'm an old body guy and wrinkled core supports = good wreck). Good luck!

Hey guys, I have an update here. I spoke with Chris at www.fivestarairbags.com Awesome guy! He can reset airbag modules in some cases and offered to take care of mine which is flashing a "19" code for around $100.00 Check them out if you are having troubles. I have not dealt with them yet but I plan on sending my module in for correction this month. I'll keep you posted.
