Default 1995 Mustang 3.8 AODE to T5 from GT

My AODE is going to leave me in the middle of nowhere without a cell phone. i want to replace it before this happens. i dont want to put an AODE in it again. I want a T5 from a GT because its stronger. I have searched and searched, but i havent gotten any answers to my questions.

what do i all need?

T5
Bellhousing
Clutch
Flywheel
Clutch Cable
Pedal Assembly
Shifter

Can I pull all of this from a GT, or just the trans?

Do I have to get the bellhousing, clutch and flywheel from a 3.8?

The GT uses a T-45 not a T-5 , but yes you could put on a T-5 , one thing to think about though by the time you get through swapping in all the new parts you could rebuild the auto and even beef it up a bit , like the J-mod , extra front clutches , and you would have a pretty solid tranny .

The bolt patterns are different , the T-5 is the tranny made for the V6
cars . They are pretty tough the will take up to about 360 RWHP .

I dont think that it worth the money... but you can pull it all off a GT...you will have to cut for the pedel...i would say at least 3K for the job

94-95 GTs were the last ones to use the T5. yes they will bolt up, and yes you can get all the parts from a GT. the only difference will maybe be the flywheel. the clutch will even be the same. (you can order one for a GT)

but GTEATER is right with the auto thing. you can convert your aode to a 4R70W, or you can upgrade the reverse cylinder to the 7 element one way diode, and use the intermediate pressure plate from a 4R70W to get a 4 plate intermediate clutch. also you can probably get a GT direct pressure plate and add a 6th direct clutch if you dont have 6 already.

so if i found a 94/95 GT manual, and took off the T5, bellhousing, flywheel and clutch, it should all work.

if the flywheel doesnt work, i can pick one up for a 3.8.

GT said the T5 was good upto 350hp, is that true for the GT T5 also?
i heard the GT T5 was stronger....

330 ft lbs is i think the highest torque rating they ever received.

automatics will hold more power than a manual, and there is also less of a shock load on your driveline with a properly built automatic.

The T-5 will hold up at 350-to 360 rwhp after that they get pissed ,
the early model GT that Lee mentioned have no stronger tranny than
the V6 . If you want to push 400rwhp through a T-5 you will have to get it upgraded like I did and get a G-force gear set I think they run about $3,300.00 .

aah ic ic.... couldnt you get it.... "cryo treated" i think is what she called it.... well just the gears.... i figure this motor that im building im hoping for 300-350, maybe I should keep the stock valves to keep it lower until i can get a T5 built up....

whats the difference between a T5 and a World Class T5??

how can I tell them apart?

Im going to start calling to find a T5 with bellhousing, clutch, and flywheel.

For that kind of cash, you can drop in a T-56 . . .
