Default 94 3.8how do i get codes?!

Hey everybody. I just got a 94 v6 first v6 mustang ive ever owned. I cant find out how to retrieve codes from it!! The 5.0 has a plug under the hood. This car doesnt!!! Hopefully someone can help, the car isnt tagged so i cant take it anywhere to get it tested. It will not rev just spit and sputter, new mass-air,t.p.s.fuel filter, plugs and wires too. fuel pressure is good. i cant afford to have it towed somewhere to have it checked is there a way to retrieve on my own?

The OBD II connection is under the dash, driver's side, next to the stereo. I'm assuming you have a code reader to pull the codes.

you might want to re-think the whole OBD II thing....

BTW, the DLC connector is located next to the passenger side shock tower under the hood.

Why? on the 94 and up V6 they are OBDII, the 94-95 GT are OBDI

No, they are OBD I with datastream, which was used in the OBD-II when it came out in 96. It was just a more advanced version of OBD I

EDIT: Found out that "some" 94's and 95's had OBD-II, and others still had the OBD-I with datastream.

Take a look by the passenger side shock tower... if you have a connector there, it's OBD I. If not, it's under the steering column and it's OBD II

no there isn't, but Autozone will check them for you at no charge.

Well if you're going to end up driving the car for any extended period of time, you can always purchase a code scanner for around $30.00+ or so at Autozone..... They're well worth the price.

try to pick up a code reader or scanner. perhaps a neighbor has one you could borrow.

sounds like the ignition module or a coil pack is going bad.

If I remember correctly, the 94 & 95's were prone to head gasket problems. If you can check the compression, that would be best.

Is there any oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil?
