Changing from 7.5 to 8.8 I was looking around the junkyard and found a bunch of fords with 8.8 rear ends the junkyard pricing was about $100.00 for the rear axle, I wanted to go with a tlok and new gears for my 01 v6 auto. I was thinking it might be cheaper to just get the 8.8 from the junkyard that already had the tlok and gears and save a little cash. Is it an extremely difficult job to rebuild and install an 8.8 or should I just buy the new gears and tlok and put it in my 7.5? what should I be looking for in the new axle to save myself from buying the wrong part and can any year 8.8 axle work? I heard that the older fox bodies and ranger all used the same axle is that true? |
