:nerd: I hope im in the right place to ask this question. So im looking to buy a new and thicker radiator for my 1984 mustang V6. I was looking through American Muscle and found a Mishimoto performance radiator for 1979-1993 5.0 Mustangs. Had the radiator brackets, electric fans, and fan control module in my shopping cart. The only thing holding me back is that the radiator claims to only be for a 5.0 V8. All the hose and bracket locations are in the same exact spot as my single radiator that I have in my V6. Contacted their support team and they said something about the hose location being different. To me it seems like its a bolt on deal but can anyone help me? Any mods that i would need to do? Thank you. Here is the link to the radiator im talking about..( Mishimoto Performance Aluminum Mustang Radiator - Automatic MMRAD-MUS-79A (79-93 5.0L) - Free Shipping )
If you read it's reviews, 2 out of the 4 people had to modify something for fitment anyways..
Like stated above, you could just get a flexible hose and have it a hair longer than stock just for routing..
If you can get it to mount up and the hoses mounted correctly, I think it seems like a good investment.
Although, if your coolant is meant to be around 190°, would there be any repercussions to running it 40° cooler around 150°??
I guess my question is why go through all that ... and it's not all that cheap either...when you can get a larger/more effective system for less money and not have to fab anything up to the extent you are talking? May I suggest............
I wasvery pleased with the product, it was built exactly to the oem specs. What I liked about this place is when I spoketo their support staff, the person I spoke with had definitely experiencedgetting their hands dirty on a car.......when I asked questions, I gotanswers....no hesitation. Whit I alsoliked is they track installation issues that both mechanics & customershave so when you place your order, they order the brand/mfg that has the leastamount of reported issues.
with regards to e-fans.......Supposedly the curve blades are quieter but, in theaftermarket world 99% of the e-fans are junk in terms of design & qualityIMHO. The OEM units flow anywhere from 50% to 200% more CFM than the "HiPerf" aftermarket units, last for years in real world daily, all weatheruse and are quiet- and are less expensive in most cases! A few years ago I bought a replacement assembly for my wife's 1997 Cougar Sport(V8) (the bearings in the e-motor were starting to whine).....the entireassembly including the shroud was $120 with tax (I bought the entire assemblybecause the motor itself was $80).
You will also hear/read about people having issues/concerns with their enginesrunning warm/hot, once it is really verified and there are no mechanicalissues, 99% it can be traced right to these HP Aftermarket fans.....those usingoem units- I have never in 20 years heard of an issue related to them in anyway in regards to cooling and there are many HP units to choose from …..the V6 Ford Taurus fan(90-95 3.8L), If space is tight, the 95-00 V6 Ford Contour, 99-02 V6 MercuryMystique, 99-02 V6 are flatter in design.
