Please post mods\power adders that you passed CA smog test with. Can a programmer\tune help me pass smog? List all mods when you passed. Anybody pass with cams, Kenne Bell or other S\C? Please help, Thank You.
Which year mustang and engine do you have? People have passed smog with just about every setup. Good cats and a proper tune go a long way in passing smog in a mustang.
Its a 04 GT 4.6L. Thanks in advance for any advise you can provide. I don't have any friends with S|C Mustangs, this is my only source of info. I have met guys with S\C Stangs in CA but when I asked about smog they just paid the smog tech extra $ to pass. I am not about to go and try and bribe a tech, at least not without a referral. After the addition of a S|C & tune will it pass smog on a daily basis or will I have to change the tune when it comes time for smog testing?
A blower + dyno tune will pass smog just fine as long as you have good cats. When you start changing cams, you can get into trouble. When is your smog do? Maybe you just want to install a blower now, and smog it. Depending on how your smog numbers look, you can consider a cam swap.
I just passed smog a week ago with a Kenne Bell SC 2.1L, Diablo chip, 90mm Lightning MAF, 42# injectors, C&L Truflo intake on my 98 Cobra. The KB is smog legal in CA. Most are unless you go with a tuner kit. The rest of the parts on my car are "grey" area as far as smog goes. I run factory cats. It was just dyno tuned. The car passed with flying colors on rolling emissions machine and visual inspection. The biggest problem that the smog place had was they couildn't keep the car from spinning the tires on the rollers, because it was making to much power. It was funny as hell really. But it passed perfectly eventually. A well tuned car will pass.

Perfect, that is what I wanted to hear befor dropping the big $. Looks like I will keep the stock cats around for testing. Glen was there any special prep\tuning you did or did you just go in rip roaring?
My friend had a 05 mustang and traded it in for a GT500, but it depended on the 05 passing smog since he added a Saleen S/C. It passed with no problems at all, but you have to have the car tuned correctly to pass smog. The tuner I and my friend use is ST Motorsports.
if the smog check is done correctly high flow cats that dont have a eo # wont pass even though the pass the sniff test most guys dont see that as long that cats are there.big G
