Hey Glen, JUSTNLX is my dad, the JUSTNLX is the liscense plate on his twin turbo LX, it was meant to be JUST AN LX, now everyone calls him Justin, LOL, anyways, his name is Tony.
Lookin forward to the cruise up to the "Ponies by the Sea" next Sunday. Can you post some of the details such as the time and place where we will be hooking up here in L.A. and maybe what route we will be taking?
Anyone else want to join us for the cruise up the coast to the "Ponies by the Sea" Car Show next Sunday? Hey Tracy and Janet, Brett, Rick and the rest of you guys and girls; How about it.... Anyone interested in cuisin' up to the show with us?
let us know where and when to meet. we will be leaving our house at 5:00 sunday morning from orange county, heading up the 405 to the 101. let us know here or email me at snakebite_83@hotmail.com. let me know
I understand that Ponies By the Sea is up in Ventura near the coast. Scott and I planned to take a cruise through the Santa Monica canyons in the morning before going to the show. With SMOG (Saleen Mustang Owners Groupe), I have had the opportunity to learn these canyons.
Jan Morgan, a Mustang archetype of sorts, would organize the events. Jan was very familiar with the terrain and traffic conditions of those canyons...he used them for rigorous testing of both his 89 Saleen and his R Turbo 2.
I have run this route quite a few times and I can say that it is nothing short of incredible. As long as we get started by 9:00 am, we will see little, if any traffic...which is vital since we are dealing with twisting one-lane canyon roads. That means that we need to meet no later than 8:30 am Sunday morning in Ventura, at the 101 and Westlake Blvd. We will have just enough time to introduce ourselves, get a quick bite, and pass out the maps...then get going.
Specifically, we will meet at Noah's Bagels. To get there, you will take the 101 North and exit Westlake Boulevard going North. Make the first right into the shopping plaza. Can't miss it.
If you have a Thomas Guide, you can review the map of the canyon run before-hand:
The route will begin by running Westlake Blvd. south (5 miles), right on Mulholland Hwy (3 miles), right on Little Sycamore Canyon (8 miles). We will stop for a few minutes and gather our thoughts. Then, left on Yerba Buena (4 miles). This will take us to PCH. If we feel up to more canyons, we will take a left on PCH and an immediate left onto Mulholland (12 miles), right on Encinal Canyon Rd. (13 miles). That takes us to PCH again. From there, we can cruise up PCH to the show.
Views are breathtaking, so bring a camera. No gas stations in the canyons, so fill up before we run. And the most important thing, THIS IS NOT A RACE. These canyon roads sometimes have sand and or falling rocks which makes braking and cornering difficult. You will not know of the sand/rocks until it is too late. We want everyone to have a safe, fun time.
Hey Snakebit83's, you guys have your ponies entered in the show right so I assume that is why you need to leave so early. I'm fine with that time but can't speak for BlackSaleen. Hey Adam is 5:00am workable with you or is it too early?
Anyone else interested in canyon cruising to the show?
correct scott. thats why we are leaving so early. we want to get a great spot to put the cars at the show. hope to see ya there. later. tracey and janet
She finally lost a head gasket this morning on the way to work. I just had to pass that Vette. She didn't embarrass me though. Blew right pass the Vette "Like it was sitting still". She lasted till I pulled into work then couldn't hold it any longer.
Well stock 5.0, 10lbs boost and 118k on the meter is not going to last to long. I'm surprised she took it as long as she did. (1 yr.)
Will be trying to use a friends trailer to get to Ponies. One show as a "Trailer Queen" wouldn't hurt to much.
I have some bad news to report. No canyon cruise or "Ponies by the Sea" car show for me. My stang has decided to spring a serious oil leak. I've got oil pouring out from the rear main oil seal.
To say the least I am really disappointed. Hope all of you attending have a great time and manage to snap a few pictures for us to post on the site.
After talking to Adam(BlackSaleen) earlier tonight, we decided to postpone the canyon cruise to a later date. Hopefully with a more advanced notice, a few more of you can pencil it in.
Regarding my rear main oil leak, I'll post a new topic asking you guys for some helpful advise. Believe me, I need it!
