Default San Francisco Travel, what to see? and how to rent a car?

Hello everyone,

My father has got an offer to buy a 1956 Thunderbird in San Francisco CA and as he hasn't got the time to go there any time soon he has offered me and a friend tickets to San Francisco in order to have a look and hopefully buy the car. I have wanted to go back to the states since I left the last time in 2004 so I'm ofcourse very happy that I get to go and I now have some questions.

First of all I would like to know what I shouldn't miss during the stay (27/2 - 5/3), car events, shows, cruises etc. I would also very much like to know what car dealers that have oldtimes (Mustangs) for sale. Is there any big speedshop in the San Francisco area? Where can I find a pair of used aluminum heads in good cond. to bring home? As you all see there is a lot of questions..

I would also very much like to be able to rent a car for a couple of days but as I read on different websites it seems like it's not illegal but almost impossible to rent a car in CA if you're only 19 years old. Does anyone know of a rental company that can rent me a car for a reasonable price?.

I really don't mind renting an old car, as a fact I would rather drive a rusty olds or caddy from the 80's then a new toyota prius (I can do that at home where gas is $5/gallon haha)

Maybee someone here got an old car more or less ideling that is or can be insured for under 21 that I could rent for a couple of days? (I'm a very carefull driver and I have been driving professionally (Ice cream truck))

I would really appritate all help and hints that I can get and I'm looking forward to the trip (maybee I'll even be able to meet up with some of you on a meet or someting)
Best Regards Axel

There is a ton of stuff to see up there if you have never been to San Francisco. There is Alcatraz Island, Fisherman's Wharf just to name a few. But it may be hard to rean a car if you are under 21. Hertz is a big car rental company I believe worldwide. Call them and ask.
