Default Has anyone in California tried to get a Diminished Value from a Insurance Claim?

My Mustang got hit by my garbage man! So it is in the shop and its all being paid for by their insurance company.

I saw somewhere that I might me able to ask for some extra money from the insurance company, called a Diminished Value Claim.

Has anyone done this before, or have any information on it???

Thanks!

My dad's 2007 Corolla got rear-ended a few months ago. Our insurance company said we would have to get an appraiser to go to court and testify that the resale value had now gone down due to an accident on the carfax report. It wasn't really worth the extra hassle since he's probably not ever going to sell it until it's worthless anyway.

WOW!! Really?? I was thinking that its probably not worth it either!

But has anyone tried one of those web sites that say that they will fight for you??

For my case, its a 3rd party claim so I am fighting the insurance company of the people who hit me.. (if I do it)

Thanks again for the reply!!

I have never heard of anything like that. I am going to ask around and see if anyone has done that.
