Default Cali emissions and inspections....they suck!!!!!

So I took my stang to get a smog check today. By the way I passed, but I had to take off my BBK cai. The guy told me that if he were to actually start the inspection he would fail me so he was cool and helped me swap in the original, so he's a cool guy and all. But I mean come on a CAI doesn't let someone pass inspection what a load of BS. Oh yeah I have a question does anyone with a cai have a carb number on there cai?

that's odd. anything before the MAF is legal (ie.CAI) and after the Cats(ie. cat back exhaust).

MAC CAI - CARB #D-241-5, K&N CIA - CARB# D-269-8,

on carburated cars you aren't allowed to have an open air cleaner because of Evap and PCV from the carb but that is not a problem on EFI cars.

Well, the last time I smogged my 88, I had to swap my K&N cone filter for the stock air box. It wouldn't have mattered if it was a box with no filter, they just wanted the box to be there

I have found that a lot of these smog shops really don't have a clue on what is legal or not.

The first time we went to smog our 95 with the Blower, the tech first asked what that thing was(the blower), and started to tell the wife that she was going to have to take it off before he could somg the car. Of course she started to laugh, and tell him that it was a Vortech Supercharger, and showed him the CARB number. He had an out of date book and could not find the number, so he told her that he could not smog the car.

I took the car to another shop, and they said no problem. Put the car on the rollers and passed the car. So what I am trying to get at is try another shop, you will get another answer.
