Cool Newbie from Southern CA

Hey everyone! I'm new to these forums, and as my siggy says, I'm lookin' to buy an 04 Mystichrome Cobra as a college graduation present to myself. I feel I deserve it as I worked hard in school. Plus, this Cobra will be the first NEW car I've ever bought/owned, and of course, I'm real excited about that.

I have wanted a Mustang since I was 16. And when I graduated high school, I was just a lil jealous when 2 of my classmates got brand new Mustang GT's as grad gifts from their parents. Haha, what can I say? I was just a goofy 18 yr old. But now, I'll be finishing college in December, and it looks like I've got my career started with this great internship I'm about to finish. And I'm really stoked about the improvements on the 03 Cobras. I've seen what the next generation Mustang might look like, but I still have reservations about what I've seen. I really like the current one though, and I fell in love with it when I was asked by a college friend to look after his 99 GT convertible one Christmas holiday as he decided to go back home.

Finally, when I heard/saw Ford introduce this Mystichrome Cobra as a special edition to commemorate 40 years of Mustang, I knew this would have to be MY horse...err, snake! According to my friends, the color-shifting paint/leather interior would reflect my personality perfectly, haha. Besides, I really like the color scheme of the Mystichrome package. Thus, I'm looking forward to taking delivery of one. You can bet I already have my name on the list for one. Back in spring 03, I was the first to put my name on the list for one at a local Ford/SVT/Saleen dealer.

And with this car, I plan to go all out for it: joining SVTOA, local car clubs, modifying it, etc. One other thing, is it true that the 03 Cobras can produce hp/torque numbers greater than 500 after a few simple mods? I don't know if it's true, but I heard either Car & Driver or Motor Trend or some other magazine had an article about it.

Anyways, sorry to write such a long novel. I felt I should introduce myself as a first post. I look forward to meeting everyone online or at club functions, and most of all, I look forward to getting my Cobra soon!!!

Aaron, a.k.a. mystichrome

Hey Twister and EyeOfTheStorm! I'm currently in Santa Ana near South Coast Plaza. What part of LB are you guys in? I roll thru LB on my way to my internship at Sony Music in Santa Monica, via PCH. Plus, I went to CSULB my freshman year back in 97-98. Me, my ex-gf, and all the rest of our friends would all cruise through LB (and other parts of LA) just hangin' out. So, I'm pretty familiar with all of LB...my old stomping grounds...hehe!

A gtg would be awesome! However, would I be welcome? I certainly don't drive a Mustang right now, not even a Ford of any kind. But I would really enjoy meeting you two and other Mustangers. And believe me, I'm no stranger to Mustangs. I've had past experiences driving (other people's) Mustangs. And SOON I'll be driving my own!!!

Cool, dude! Don't worry, I don't hang out with Hondas or any other ricers either! I'm actually a Euro guy, but I've always had the heart of a Mustanger. When it comes to American cars, I'm a Ford nut. Since high school, most of the car books in my personal library are Ford books, and I definitely have Mustang books too. In fact, you could say I've loved Mustangs since I was real little. My favorite pocket cars were a 64 1/2 Mustang Convertible and a 65 Shelby Mustang, and they actually sit on the shelf above my computer.

Believe me, I can't wait to get my horse...err, snake! I've wanted one since I was 16, and I've definitely wanted one since graduating h.s. So, I've been waiting a very long time! But, soon... VERY SOON! I'll make that wish come true.

Speaking of getting my Cobra soon, it may be sooner than I thought! I don't know, I've gotta talk with the guy I'm dealing with. Might be right after the new year! So, we'll see.

Oooo, I'm getting all excited now!

abadtb2 -- Hey man, thanks for the heads up! I'll definitely be lookin' to join a few Mustang/Cobra/SVT clubs for the car. Are you a member of either of these? I'll be sure to check out each of the sites. Thanks for the info!

Cool dude! Muchas gracias for this info. Glad to hear you're a member of a number of clubs. I plan to do the same!

Time isn't going nearly as fast as I want it to. I can't wait for December to arrive cuz that's when I'm completely done with school, completely done with this awesome internship, and (hopefully) hired in, starting my career, and making some $$$. And that's when I can finally go to the dealer with finanical confidence and officially start the paperwork, put down a deposit, and get a delivery date!!! I'M SOOOOO EXCITED!!! For me, that would also be the best Christmas present I can give myself this year...the dealer giving a VIN # and delivery date for my beast! So, come on, time...tick faster! hahaha

Good Luck, it's a fine day when some hard work pays off.

I spent 3 1/2 years restoring this, my baby.. Hope to see you around.

WOOOOOWWWWW!!! That is one really schweet 70 Boss!!! So, I take it that red was the original color of it? Nice, real nice! I bet it sounds awesome! No doubt and no wonder it was showcased on the cover of Mustang Monthly.

I seriously hope I can hold onto my 04 Mystichrome Cobra until it becomes a classic, barring life and sh** happening along the way. Just think, it's 2029, and I've got my pristine 2004 Mystichrome Cobra convertible with original papers and all, one of few remaining that wasn't wrapped around a telephone pole or in a junkyard somewhere. That would be just awesome!!!

Yeah dude, hope to see you around too cuz I'd like to see that car up close!
