Ascot, Saugus, Whiteman, Speedway 605, Corona......there have been more than 100 race tracks in so-cal, including a track in Beverly Hills, and Mines Feild was where LAX is now. Gilmore Stadium was where Farmers Market is, and both the Colisium and Dodger's Stadium held midget races
There was a track in El Toro that ran Midgets. Thats Lake Forest for those too young to remember El Toro. They also ran Speedway bikes. If I remember correctly, there was a pretty large wrecking yard right above the track.

We know they are two different places, WAY DIFFERENT! Palmdale SUCKS!
It was posted on FFW that W/N and W/F where moving from Pomona to Fontana. Don't know if it is true are not??? We just got off on a tangent with tracks closing. I sent an E-mail to NHRA to see if there is any truth to the story or if it is just the Vicious Rumor Club at it again.

Sorry dude, but if Pomona is closing (and that is IF) that is WAY bigger then FFW. That’s history or hopefully not! And I would much rather see FFW at Pomona or Bakersfield then Fontana.
Sometimes it just gets of topic. I’m just glad FFW is still going to make a go of it here in Ca.

exactly. As a diehard race fan, I saddened to hear of ANY track closing, but when it is one that ha been racing for over 40 years, then it becomes a big deal. The FFW is less than 10 years old, and in reality, a rather small event. It is not on the same scale as the NHRA, let alone NASCAR. The strip in Pomona however, is the NHRA's home, and the NHRA has spent allot of money to build thier museum there. Pomomna is also the only NHRA track to hold 2 nationals in the same year

Hello,
There has been a vicious rumor floating around that NHRA will be moving the
Winter Nationals and World Finals from Pomona to the speedway in Fontana. Is
there any truth to this or is it just part of the Vicious Rumor Club?

Sorry to disagree on this, but it is not the only track to hold 2 events per year. There are several other tracks that do, least of which is Las Vegas.
But back to the subject at hand... I don't see how the FFW guys can go wrong with moving their event to Fontana. I don't know why they are making the move, but there were problems with Palmdale last year. To be honest I think Bakersfield would have been a better choice, then Fontana.
Tony, thanks for letting us know that Pomona is not going anywhere. we are going to be at the winternationals latter this month, and it just would not be the same anywhere else.
