Exclamation CA Style Emission Standards Coming to WA

I know that this is not necessarily Mustang related, or even a tech questions, but go to http://www1.leg.wa.gov/legislature and enter in 5397 in the bill search area.

Senate Bill 5397 calls for a change in vehicle emission standards that resembles that of California. It’s waiting for Senate hearing on Tuesday. Please write or call your Senator and tell them politely your opinion on this bill. Or better yet, call 1.800.562.6000. Tell them who you are, where you live (county or city) & that you are against this bill

Todd

Why are you against it? As a Californian, I agree that it can be hard to pass, but as a Californian, I can tell that it has helped the air quality. I can see the mountains 60 miles from home (7000 ft. tall ones) more often today thanI could 20 years ago. The aftermarket has developed great smog legal parts. BOO HOO, you won't be able to run your off-road H-pipe any more and will have to get one with high flw cats and loose 3 hp...I am not a tree hunging liberal, I am a diehard car guy, but I like to breath, and I would like to see this planet not being a toxic waste dump for our grand children. The Californian smog laws as they are now is a great comprimise, HOWEVER, the next time they try to make them tougher, then I will be all over them.

I have no problem seeing any of the mountains in this state. Our air quality is just fine. We get lots of rain to wash the skies clean. We already have emissions standards here, and I can live with the ones that we already have in place. There is no reason to make them even more restrictive though. We have factories that put out way more pollutants in the air than the worst traffic that we ever have. They are able to buy their way around the laws though. We have a very busy airport, and those jets are responsible for more air pollution than any amount of cars that use the highways and by-ways.

Eastern Washington is like a whole different state... for that matter when you get out of the Puget Sound area there is hardly any traffic at all. There is no concentration of vehicle use, i.e. there is gridlock, in those areas. Why should they be held to those stricter laws?

The bottom line is that the liberal politicians in this state have been trying to get us out of our cars for decades. They push poorly planned and grossly expensive public transportation down our throats. They chip away little by little, and before you know it, we're driving hybrid Ford Escapes or Toyota Prius. For the people that push these laws cars are not a passion or way of life. They are simply a mode of transportation from here to there.

You have your views and I have mine, and that's cool. While I disagree with you, I respect your well intentioned opinion.

Yep, that about sums it up, WA state doesn't have a problem with smog and this looks like BS to me. And then they tax the gas to heck and back!http://www.allfordmustang.com/forums...humbs_down.gif
