Hey Ron.....the event was 8/30-9/1 at Sears Point, now Infineon Raceway. It was a ton of fun to watch. They had some hot little go carts shipped in that you could pony up $100 to drive on a track....these weren't the kiddie carts but some kick a$$ gas ones on friday night....sat and sun were track runs in the mornings and afternoons. One guy had an original GT40 car that I understand is now worth about $1mill. There was a grand prix car that was really fast, several ferarris, several panteras, several S351 racers, several cobra R's and about 50 cobra kit cars, 50 65-68 really hot full race mustangs and 50 87-93 mustangs, 3 stock cars. The grand prix and the three stock cars were the fastest.....but two of the mustangs (a black 65 and a red 65 were keeping with them and even faster on the straights).
I watched the cars all day. This track is very unique if you have never been. Its probably only similar to Watkins Glen because you have hills with turns going downhill and uphill on this road course.
It was free to watch and the weather was nice. They have had this event every year. Its put on by the Northern Calif Cobra Owners Club....I posted it on the events calendar. I'd highly recommend it for next year.
