Default 1994 Mustang GT needs engine rebuild?

I have a 94 Mustang GT. It has close to 175,000 on the engine. I Brought it about a year and a half ago with 120,000. Its a daily driver, and I drive in to Los Angeles about a average of 100 miles round trip. My engine use to drip small amounts of coolant when i first got it. Now its leaking large amounts of coolant, and it seems as if its coming from the inner portion of my engine near the transmission. It also leaks small amount of oil. I am a newbie to having my engine rebuilt. What do i need to have done to my engine. What should i be looking for in a shop that rebuilds my engine. One shop in pomona gave me a price range of $1250.00 for rebuild ( reground crank, rod bearing, main bearings, rings, cam bearings, pistons, reground cam shaft, full gasket set, lifters, full timing set, freeze plugs, resurface heads, valve & seal regrinding, free honing & boring, and oil pump) engine remove and install included. Do i need to touch the transmission? Its an automatic. The shop will probably use there parts, but what type of parts can i buy, for the shop to install, that may give me a horsepower boast? I would like to stay around $1500 total. Does anyone know of a shop around the Los Angeles, Riverside or O.C. area, that deals with mustang engines, other than brothers performance? I appreciate your help.

dude that is cheap compared to my last car, I had a Porsche 944 and just to get the cylinderhead resurfaced and new valves, new gasket cost $2,400...

sorry to hear about your car tho,

You may be losing oil from a rusted freeze plug in the block, and the oil could be coming from a leaking oil pan gasket or crankshaft rear main seal.
Unless your engine's knocking, you shouldn't need a reground crankshaft nor camshaft. If the engine isn't burning large amounts of oil, the cylinder bores are probably OK and at worst you might need new piston rings. It does look like your engine needs freshening up so I'd suggest the following:

Bottom end

New main/rod/cam bearings
New piston rings
New oil pump
New timing set
New seals (will be included in complete engine gasket set)
New block freeze plugs

Top end

Valve/valve seat regrind (new valves if this was done before)
Resurface heads
New gaskets & seals (will be included in complete engine gasket set)

This would be a good opportunity to go for aftermarket aluminium heads with a performance intake manifold and camshaft if you wish. If your budget won't stretch that far though, you could port the existing stock heads and lower intake manifold. I had very good results doing that to mine.

Bullit95, would all this be done when they rebuild the engine, or do i need to ask the shop, specific things? As far as aluminum heads, intake manifold and camshaft, do i buy the parts and give it to them to install. Is there anything that has to be reprogrammed with the car computer? I know nothing about engines. thank you for everyone help

I see other guys have helped out. But first, that's an AWESOME price for what's about to happen. You couldn't get a rebuild kit for that much, especially when that's including removal, rebuild, and install.
You can get the heads and intake your self, you can find some deals if you look around. If you need suggestions on head or intake recommendations, just ask. But if your budget is $1500, you won't be able to get any at this time because you'll spend probably $1000 just for heads and an intake.
These parts/practices should be automatic when doing an engine rebuild so no need to point it out to them. But once it's up and running, a computer tune would be really good to get, it'll allow you to get the most out of it.
And I'll move this to the West Coast region to get a better chance at someone knowing a shop for you.
