Default 2006 Mustang wheels on a 1968 Mustang?

I have a set of stock wheels and tires I took off my 2006GT. What would I need to do to get them to fit onto my 1968 coupe? Is this even possible? Thanks.

Yes, it's very possible. I have a pic of an early model with 2005+ GT wheels.

You need wheel spacers npd sells them but i wouldn't trust a 2 inch spacer.

Could you elaborate on the spacers? I know nothing about wheels and tires. What are they, what do they do, and why would you not trust 2" spacers? What would you trust?

A little more info...the stock 68 wheels that are on it now are 14"x7" and the wheels I want to put on it are off a 2006 GT, they are 17"x8"

Should be able to buy longer stud, see your local tire dealer, those guys stock them in buckets and most know the in and outs of spacing and adapters.

What would you think about 1-1/4 inch adapters?

We ran , 1-1/2 -2" spacer on the old metal roadsters
chopped and chanelled round track cars. drill 1/4"
counter sunk hole between the holes. Tap the axle
or spindle flange use grade 8 screws. Had to use
9/16" or 5/8" lugs back then, so that maybe a
problem with space 7/16" should do the 1-1/4".
I never broke more than one before and ran two
weekends without it.
Brings back fond memories of my Dad and I back in the 50 and 60's when a working man could race every weekend and have some great fun. We loved that old dirt track racing.

+1, it is better to use longer studs than thicker spacers, and will leave you with more options when/if you decide to change the wheels in the future.
