wider tires on stock rims

Default wider tires on stock rims
I own a '02 Gt with stock rims and 245/45ZR17 tires. My question is can 275/40ZR17's fit on the rear. as I'm not sure if the stock bullit rims are 8.5" or 9" wide. The tires I'm choosing are the Nitto 555R drag radials for the rear and Nitto 555 extremes for the front.

the 275 40 will work on the stock rims with no issues. thats whats on my car when you saw it last summer

Stock Bullitts are 17x8 and some say not to run a 275/40 and others say its ok so your call.

I decided to go with stock 245/45ZR17's and get wider rims and drag slicks for the track
