Post 1990 mustang gt tire sizes! help!

my ride needs tires a.s.a.p. on my cobra r rims and my good friend of mines works at a tire shop were he will give me a good deal on some nexxen tires. he had ask me what tire size I wanted, as of now I have falken ziex ze512 255/45/17 all around. (i have rubbing in the front when I turn the wheel 3/4 of the way)and my first choice was 245/45/17 all around but I really want my car to look mean so I search online and noticed that they recommend 245/45/17 up front and 275/40/17 outback is this correct? I ask my friend and he was like I don't know. he says maybe is the other way around (245/40/17 front-275/45/17 back) I check again and that is the correct size (45 front-40 back). my question will be why would taller tires up front and shorter tire out back? will I get the look I want with that set? thank you I sound like and idiot asking this question! hope you guys understand

I would put the 40's up front and the 45's in the back. It would sit a little higher in the back which I think looks better.

The 45 and 40 is a size relative to the width. so if the width is 245, the hight is 45 percent of that. In the back the width is 275, 40 percent of that is the same hight as the front. if you want it to sit just a little bit higher in the back then go with 245/45/17 front and 275/45/17 back.

my car has been lower so as of now it looks more lower from the front than the back. i'm really considering 245/45 front and 275/40 back i think there about the same size in height
