Exclamation 2001 Mustang. I need help choosing wheels PLEASE!!!

I saved up and bought this V6 2 months ago. I looking to upgrade my wheels. It has the 16's that were previously on it and don't look so hot. honestly, I am an 18 year old girl with minimal experience with cars. I guess now is the time to learn. My dad would pick them out and give me advice but he is 1,000 miles away right now on a job. I need to buy front tires deperately before he gets home, so I might as well get a bigger set while I'm at it. i was considering 18-20 inch, but was advised by a friend to go with 17s because I would have to recalibrate my spedometer if I upgraded that much. Is this true and does it make a big difference in speed?

Furthermore, the rims that I like so far are are 2005- 2008, 17x8, bullitt, 5 funnel shaped spokes, argent silver. Will these fit my 2001 or are they made differently to fit 2005-2008. i read somewhere that I may need spacings. One listing on ebay that i am interested in includes 13mm spacings. Is this the correct size to fit my stang?

One more question, if these will work, would the silver or charcoal look better. My stang is silver, but having the wheels that color may be too much. Any opinion?
I am ignorant to this kind of stuff, so this is beyond me. I just want good looking wheels that will fit my car and aren't too tight. Thank you so much!!!

the 05-08 rims won't work on your car
And your friend is right and I agree I wouldn't go above 17's not only for more pricey tires...but to answer your question on a sliver mustang...I'm quite partial to black bullets with 17x10.5 deep dish bullitts in the back or if you don't want deep dish you can just get 4 black bullitts and get staggered stance with 245/45/17 front tires and 275/40/17 in the back which will make it look like you have a wider rim in the rear than in the front, which some people like! even chrome one's will look good!

oh and to add to that anytime you go over the stock size rims or tires your speedometer will change and you will have to get it recalibrated..there's really no getting around it lol

Thank you so much, tony! I am leaning more toward 17s because I will be a poor college student next year and don't want to have to spend to much on tires in the future. However, I really want these bullits!!! I fould a listing for new tires, rims, and 13mm spacers for $800. I am told that this is a good deal and based on jegs, american muscle, etc. it looks like it to me. I apologize for my ignorance. it says that with the spacers, it will fit my 2001. Anyone know if that's true?

ohhh okay i see what kind of spacers your talking about now, the one's that come with the studs in them, i thought you meant like a regular wheel spacer...in that case they will fit and will look good!! and even if you don't like the way they look, you can always get them powder coated to your liking

Ok. Thanks! glad to hear that they will fit. The picture of the stang on that website looks almost exactly like mine. lol In your opinion, which one looks better: that color of silver or a darker charcoal? I'm not really feeling the black. You've been such a help.
