Default Rim and tire question, 1989 Mustang

hey everyone .. i'm looking to buy new rim's for my 89'. I was wondering if anyone had an idea of what size of tires i could fit on a 17x9" Lug-pattern 4x4.25" +18mm offset (5.71" backspacing) would 265 be to big? All 4 rim's would be the the same size on the car.

275/40-17 is what comes on that size wheel from the factory. Some people have rubbing issues running that wide of a tire on the front though.

It all depends on your specs of the wheel, but I can't tell you what those would need to be. Maybe someone else can chime in here and clear that up. The minimum width tire I would run on a 9" wide wheel would be a 255. 275 is the ideal width to use, if you can get away with it.

if i run 275's in the back and like 265's or 255's in the front would the rim sizes have to be different? Most likely i'll be getting the 03 svt rim's 4 lug

I probably should have mentioned that the rubbing will most likely only occur when you turn the wheels all the way to the left or right. Even my stock 225/60-15's rubbed and the set up I have now only rubs at full lock. All I have to do to avoid it is not turn the wheels that far and if I do it's not going to hurt anything. If it bothers you, install a set of rack limiters which just keeps you from turning the wheels as far.
