2008 Mustang GT what's a good rim/tire size for slicks
Looking to pick up a set of rims and slicks for the back. Will leave stock rims and tires on front for now (235/50/18) when going to the track. Suggestions?

Perform? In a straight line, no problems. I would not go running the road coarse with 2 different sizes like that tho.
It is a smaller diamter tire with the 275/40/17. so it might look a little odd, but it gets the job done. I install mine at the track. But ok to drive short trips without evasive manuevering.
Well, you dont really want to be driving around on your drag radials. No need for that extra wear. But it can be drivin to the strip just fine with that combo. People on the road may look at ya a little funny wondering why that guy has 2 different rims on his car. Some may notice, why is his back tire smaller than his front?
Other than that, no need to shop around really.
Comes down to what you are going to use it for, and if getting there in style is an issue, also money.
So far this deal looks like it will work. Looking for something I can run just for track time. Tracks like 15 miles from my house. Either that or find a set of drag radials I could use on my current rims for the summer, then save for a set of slicks n front tires with 15" rims.

But do you want to be dismounting/mounting, and balancing every time you want to switch to drag radials. Dedicated drags are really the only way to go imo.
No problem driving to the track thats for sure.
The track I go to is 1hr 15min away
So IYHO going with the 17's package deal is the way to go? I was thinking getting drag radials for everyday use and when I run at the track (leaving them on always) Something like these:
2 NEW 305/45-18 NITTO NT555R Drag Radials Tires 45R-18
Is that possible?

Did not pull the trigger. Tires sat lower than front tires, inch or so. Went with Eagle 275/45/18. 1 1/2 inches wider and should hold its own at the track. Will find out Wednesday. Looking to take at least 3 tenths off my runs. Looks good with all that meat on the road
