Default 255/50-17s ok on stock 7.5 rims???

Anyone still got stock rims??? I want to go with the nitto 555 extremes but the closest they come to 27 inches are with the 255/50-17s. will this wide of a tire work on the stock 7.5¨rims??? anyone got any photos?

You can do a 255 width on the stock rims. S197 OEM wheels are 8".

Hey thanks guys.
follow up question, do you think they would look funny on the smaller rims or be a little less stable?

I think they'll be just fine. And they won't look funny at all. I'm old school. More rubber=better.

Thumbs up Thanks for the posts

I took the 05 Mustang GT on a business trip to NH this week. While there I ruined one of the rear OEM Pirelli tires. Now I was faced with finding a tire so I wouldn't have to drive over 100 miles on the spare. I'd been thinking about going with the Nitto 555 anyway so this just helped me make up my mind sooner. I came to this forum to see about the fit since Nitto doesn't come in the OEM size. Thanks to you folks I now have two Nitto 555s on the rear (the dealer could only get three). They look great and worked great on the Kangamangus highway (for those not familiar it 30+ miles of twists and turns on very good pavement)! The question I have now is can I put the same 255-50-17s on front without worrying about them rubbing when turning?

Thanks for the posts that eased my mind about the purchase of the two for the rear.
