Default TPMS/Tire suggestions for 2007 Mustang GT on 26mm Offset 18" 2003 Cobra Rims

Greetings All,

I have been following a number of Mustang forums and i really think you guys are cultivating a great community here. This is my first post, i will be adding pics soon, havnt had a chance to take proper ones.

a lil over 2 months ago i purchased a 2007 GT 5spd Convertible, the previous owner installed white racing stripes. In the past 2 months io have done Flowmaster Mufflers, Agent 47 Mirrors, Eleanor Grill and a bunch of interior mods.

I have always wanted the look of wide wheels in the rear, but from doing my research i found that even with a 10" wide wheel the 05+ offset tucks the wheels in and they dont look as wide as they should.

I came across a thread with 05+ GT's wearing 24 - 28mm offset wheels from New edge Mustangs and i feel in love with the look.
Yes the wheels stick out a bit but it looks mean and it seems as though guys have the wheels on lowered cars with no issues.
So i pulled the trigger on 18" x 9" 03/04 SVT Cobra wheels

Pics of S197 with 99-04 offset types wheels please

I have a 2 part question

Part one: I want to move the TPMS to the new wheels as i will most likely run these wheels all year round, i live in NYC and commute on Mass transit to work, the Stang is a means of reseting my equilibrium and putting a smile on my face. Will the TPMS fit on these new wheels? I presume i have to buy new bands from American Muscle for each sensor, anything else needed to make it work?

Part two: any of you guys have 24 - 28mm offset wheels on your 05+? What size tires are you running? It seems the most popular size for these wheels in 17" are f:255/45/18 & R:275/40/18, i do prefere to have a wider tire in the rear but it seems that 255 all around would hadle better or 275 all around will cause a lot of tracking for the front wheels but 2 diff wheel sizes will not allow me to rotate.

Just wanted to hear any feedback before i purchase the tires/TPMS bands. Thanks in advance for chiming in

Next up is most likely a Brenspeed tuned Steeda CAI, this will give me a chance to adjust for changes tire size.

-M

buy a set of bands for 18 inch wheels........when you have them installed make SURE they install the sensor on the exact opposite size of the valve stem (directly across from it).....i know my buddy has an 04 mustang, with 10.5 inch wheels on the back and 315s on it........they fit on my car, but they stuck out a little.

This guy is running
F: 255-45
R:285-40
on 18 x 9's

2005 Black Mustang GT Pictures - Justin '05

any body have experience with this tire combo?

i was thinking of running 275 40 rear but this 285 45 looks awesome! I don't mind the way it bulges(kinda like it) but will the performance suffer much as a result?

I went with the 26mm offset AFS 18 x 9 SVT Cobra Terminnator Wheels, 275 - 40 - 18 Michelin XGT 4 all around.

They look awesome! and the ride quality has not suffered but they are heavy and the steering is not as precise as it was. Its Harder to turn the wheel with the big rubber but it feels very sure footed at all speeds, hooks WAY better than stock tire size. The added weight is definately noticable.

Bought the TPMS straps/brackets from American Muscle, they delivered quick! Shopped around for installation, found a shop that did it for $120, dismounting stockers and removing tires n TPMS, mounting TPMS and tires on new wheels, balanced all the wheels 2. Got stock 18" bullits with dismounted stock 235's if any one is interested.

Default here are the pics

I think it looks awesome and the wide wheels tires upfront don't seem to have much of an adverse affect on street driving aside from a lil tracking

A year later, no issues at all.

Rotated the tires after 7k miles when i lowered the car with Steeda Sport springs (1" F/1.25" R). I swapped out the entire suspension and have put a couple hundred miles on the car, no issues .

BTW - this thread has hit 1,900 visits about a year. A personal best.

Hey admins, what are the highest hit count on threads?
Would be cool to sticky the top 10 or sumn.
