Default Help - Confused on Wheel Purchase - 2005 Mustang GT

Ford Accessories.Com suggests that only a 17" wheel should be used on 05 Stand GT. The other sites don't suggest this & give you options for the various years and bigger wheels. Am I going to run into trouble or need to make modification if I buy a 18 x 8.5 wheel. Then, I need to know what the difference between wheel #6R3Z-1007-L and wheel # M-1007-S1885B*? The first part number listed is from ford accessories and the second one is from Ford racing. The wheel from ford racing are 170.00 dollars and The wheel from ford accessories is 210.00 dollars and I want to know if there is a difference and if so what it is.because they look the exact same. Also the wheel from ford accessories was not recommended for a 05. THese are black 18in bullitts and if anyone has pictures of 18in black bullitts could you post them. Thanks any help will be appreciated BML

You won't have any issues with an 18" wheel. 18s have been an option since 06. I run 18x10 in back and 18x9 in front.

18's are a great option. does anyone have the range in backspacing you can use for 18's and 20's?

Yes you can get 20s in there also if you stay with the same back spacing. The ride quality goes down with the really low profile tires. I don't personally like them but thats just me.

Default I bought some 20's

I just bought a set of 20X10, 35 offset, American Racing Shelby Chrome Torque Thrusts, and I'm trying to decide what tire to run. They are wider than I was looking for but the price was right... I'll admit that I'm going to 20's for the looks. 18's don't really fill the wheel well, imo.

I've been running 18 AFS Mach I type wheels. They are getting a little weather worn, from road salt.

That offset might be a problem on the back.

It's the tire that fills the wheel well, not the rim

Unless you put 20s or 22s. I saw a SUV last week with I think they were 24s with wide spokes and it reminded me of the older big hub caps.

Believe me I have been concerned about the clearances, but I thought it would be the front where I might have problems...

I got a good price on these or I wouldn't have bought them. If I have to spacer some wheels, or even buy a matching pair with different offset, no biggy. I paid a little over 1/2 price for them and they are new in the box...

Even a 20 with a rubber band tire isn't going to fill the well.

Good deals are only a good deal if you can use them. I hope it works out for you.
