Default curb rash question

i just bought a set of used 2002 gt rims any way 1 of the 4 has some curb rash. i know how to fix it just want to make sure that this lip on the wheel is polished and not painted before i attempt to fix... here is the picture of the wheel and then a picture of the damage

Hard to tell but I would say it's been painted from what looks like metal flake.

yeah the middle part is metal flaked but the outside lip is a plain silver i'm hoping its a polished being easier to fix haven't been able to find a matching color and don't want to have to repaint the other 3 to make them match..

in this picture i tried showing a different angle that way could see the lip color better along with the metal flake... i think its polished just not 100% all my rims before have been painted so i can't tell the difference

mmm, yes, that's a much better angle. I would say the rim is just polished and then clear coated. It should clean up very nicely I would think after grinding or repairing it however you were going to.

thanks alot..

yeah i was planning on sanding it to get the curb rash off then put 2 or 3 layers of clear coat on it after shining it up again.
