Default 1997 mustang front tire size?

hi! i'm new to this but i love mustangs. I got a 97 gt i'm thinking about putting 275/40/17's on the back I haven't choosen the size for the front yet. Just woundering how wide I can go without problems? Can anyone help?

245/45/17 I think were stock on my car. I think that those 17's are 8 inches wide so that will limit your sizes. In the front I think you can go to 255/40. Past that you may have rubbing issues when you turn the wheel. I'm not completely sure though.

thanks for your reply, I got 17x9 rims that is why i'm going with 275's on back. I was thinking of 255/40 but I dont know if the height difference will look good? what do you htink/

97 cobra lowered 2" has 9" wheels on the front with 275/40's. the back has 10.5's and has the 285/40's and no problems. the 10.5 wheels could use the 315 though. it would look better with the larger tire but BFG don't make a 315 in the KDWS.
