I have a friend who is selling a set of 4 Chrome 18x9 FR500 Rims with Nitto tires already mounted and balanced, that he is trying to get rid of for a friend. His friend had a blue 05+ GT but sold it a while ago and put the stock wheels back on before doing so. The setup only has a few thousand miles on them. He has been sitting on these FR500 rims for a while now and I've been assured that if I offered the guy $500 for the set, he'd take it. My buddy even owns a shop and would put them on for free, and told me that he'd put them on before selling them, so I could get a good look at them.
Being impatient and curious, I decided to photoshop a set of Chrome FR500 wheels onto my current vehicle to gauge the look. I really had my heart set on the Foose Nitrous wheels (very expensive), but I was also considering a set of black Bullitt rims, or Black FR500 rims because of price, in comparison to the Foose wheels. I liked the look of all.
But this deal, $500 for a set of Chrome FR500 Rims with Nittos already mounted and balanced has really got me contemplating, because of the cost... And I don't think it looks too bad.
What do you think? And are you, or anyone you know, running a set of Chrome FR500's on a Tungsten Grey GT? Actual pics would be great. Any and all opinions and comments are welcomed. Like I said, I had my heart set on some black rims to complement my current ride with the black stripes, but this deal is awfully tempting.
Agreed- those look awesome on your vehicle -I can see how the black Bullitts would too although I think the chrome has that "wow" factor going for it that's hard to beat.
I just put on a set of chrome fr500's on my mineral grey GT. It's close to your color but not exact. I love them and so does everyone who has seen them. I was told by one guy that chrome wheels really makes a dark car stand out. I didn't even consider getting black rims and I am going to get black stripes so I would look very similar to yours.

Apparently my opinion isn't a popular one, but I personally don't think that chrome would go well with the dark color motif you seem to be going for. It may be a good deal, but if you would rather have the black rims, I say save the money and buy the ones you really want.
just my $0.02...

Getting those rims with the Nittos for 500.00 is a fantastic deal, especially given that you said the setup has only a few thousand miles. I mean, I sold my polished aluminum bullitt's with the BF Goodrich's with just over 9000 miles on that setup and got 500.00 for the set.....so for you to get those for the same price its practically a steal if you ask me. Do it before he changes his mind...lol.
I saw the chrome FR500s at a car show this past weekend and they looked absolutely fantastic. They were on a black Mustang but your color is dark enough that they will look just as good on your car.
I was on the fence about chrome rims but once I had the chrome deep dish bullitts put on I was floored by how great they look. The difference is striking. You'll love 'em.

Have to agree with you take a peek at my tungsten with the black rims...sweeeet...if I do say so myself.
Don't buy just 'cause there a deal, you can get deals all day long. Get what you REALLY want, you'll be happier in the long run
Good luck!

I didn't care for the look of chrome on Tungsten myself. But we all have opinions.
For 500 Id say go for it. If you don't like it after a while, I'm sure you could resell them for 500, nothing to lose.
I still say go for the chrome....I've never been a fan of black rims especially on a dark car. There are a few cars that have black rims on here that look really good but overall I've always thought that black rims just give the look of a rim that is caked with brake dust or something.....lol.
But like I said, black works good on some....I've seen white and red cars that they look good on....but on darker color cars there just isn't enough contrast between the rim and the rest of the car. So there is my .02
I say do the chrome especially at that rock bottom price.
Get the rims/tires.Thats a killer deal and could possibly set you up for a better set of tires and wheels if you don't like them. Then you could sell both sets, stock and the 500's(<<their probably worth about $700.00) and get what you want.
