My newly purchased 2000 Mustang convert. was from Florida and has Dunlop Direzza 101 tires on it. Now I find on the internet that these are warm weather ONLY tires. I am in the northeast (PA) so instead of buying just snow tires, I am looking at four tires for the winter. This car is for everyday use so the option of keeping it in the garage until spring is not there.
Any ideas, info on these tires?
thanks
bobo
If I understand correctly you are looking for more of an all season tire? I have BFGoodrich g-Force Super Sport A/S tires on my car in size 275/40-17. I'm not a particularily aggressive driver but within my judgement skills they seem to be good. The people reviewing them at the online tire stores seem to think highly of them for both dry and wet or even snowy conditions. They balanced with relatively light weights and ride well. They also have a much higher treadwear rating than the "summer" tires. I bought mine from Discount Tire Direct, I think others have recommended The Tire Rack also. Good hunting.
If you want to drive your mustang in the winter, you really need snow tires. My 79 was a daily driver for school, even the winter, and I used snow tires with metal studs. I never had any problems, just kept a little wieght in the back end. Now with the newer cars you might need 4 snow tires and I dont think they make studded tires for bigger wheels. But, they are definately worth the money.

Thanks for the replies. I have decided to do the 'European' thing and use four winter sport tires, Dunlops, since my daughter will be using the car daily and my granddaughter is a frequent passenger, and then switch back to the Dunlop Direzza quartet in warmer weather. This is probablly overkill, but should give my daughter and wife a comfort zone. Both are apprehensive about giving up their previous FWD car.
If anyone has used this winter/summer European way you might want to enlighten me further.
thanks again...
+1 on the g force supersports. my dad has them on his mercedes and i have driven it in the snow with not too much trouble. (his car is also rwd).

Next summer looking to go with:
Bilstien shocks + struts, Lowering springs (brand still TBD (any suggestions?)), MM CC plates, front + rear sway bars, subframes, and upper and lower control arms.
Time to make the pony ride some rails

lol just saw that when i posted. yeah i swap out my summers with winters also. for the summer i have BFG G force sports. and for the winter i run bridgestone blizzacks. i also have each set of tires on a separate set of rims which makes life a lot easier too.
