Default Newbie needing a lot of rim/tire help

First off I want to say thanks for all the great advice Ive been getting from my posts. Im real new to all this and discovered forums only a week ago. But in that time Ive learned a shitload, you guys are great.

I want to buy inexpensive 18x9s (Im guessing they will be knock offs). Are the knock offs heavier than more expensive rims? I dont want them to drop my performance. Ive been looking at a lot of combo sales but they either only fit up to 04 stangs or I cant tell how heavy they will be.

I dont know crap about this so any advice is welcomed. Ive picked up some from other threads.

Im looking for the following that fit my car, anybody know of any fitting these requirements?

18x9s (9.5 preferred)
Not heavy enough to negatively affect performance (I only have a 6)
Wheel and tire combo, set-up and all
Under $1000

You should take a look at Mustang Parts & Performance - American Muscle.

A few months ago when I was looking at these they were on sale $40/wheel cheaper. According to Don at Steeda, they are 24.4 pounds each. Not truly lightweight, but five or six pounds lighter than the 18x8.5 Ford "Fanblades".

I'm afraid "light", "x9.5" and "less than $1,000 with tires" don't fit well in the same sentence.

I think the best-ever deal for V6s is the GT takeoff set of 17x8 Bullitts with Pirelli 235-55s. Two years ago I got a set for just over $500 delivered, including new nuts and locks. An excellent compromise unless you plan some serious competition of some kind. Even with likely inflation, there are good values out there.

Good luck.

I agree with finding a nice set of GT take offs, if that's your taste. They can be found pretty cheaply, often with nice tires, too. The '08s have some pretty cool tire combos too, for being stock rims. I think the fan blade ones with the black spoke inserts look wicked on black mustangs. They're 18's too...

Hi,
Replicas can be made heavy or light. Also, consider the weight of the tire, the wider the tire the heavier.
