Default Help with 89 offset

I bought a set of 17" replica cobra r's off ebay and didn't pay attention to what offset I needed. It's too late for me to return them so I'm stuck selling the ones I have and getting new ones. Right now I have to use a spacer in the front to get the wheel/tire to not rub on the strut.

I've seen different off set applications. Does anyone know what the offset should be on an 89 for both a 8" and 9" wheel....uning a 17" wheel?

I want to make sure I have it right this time.

The pictures show what I bought...that don't work on the front.

Any Suggestions? wheel offset

I bought a set just like that for my 1988 GT. I had the same problem. Instead of selling them I went with a 8" wheel in the front and a 9" in back. It rides a lot better also. Before I went with an 8" the car was all over the road. It would pull to the left and right all the time. I thought something was wrong with the alignment or shocks. A buddy told me to go with the 8" and it rides great. Hope I could help.

Will these work? If I look into 17 X 8 wheels on line, what offset should I get?

These say "offset ET18"

Does anyone know what the proper off set is for the following for the front wheels. I need to order two front wheels in a week and don't know what offset to get. Thanks.

17 x 8
17 x 9

Yes. All factory settings would be the same. That way, you can install factory wheels on any location!

So I need to look for wheels that are 20mm offset, even for the front? Does the widthof the wheel change anything? I'd be going from the stock 15" to 17 x 8 or 9 in the front.

As long as you have the correct offset, you should be fine. There are some limits to the size of wheels and tires you can use without some modifications to the suspension I would think. I'm not sure of the maximum sizes you can use with the factory set-up.

So I think I figured it out. Between the wrong offset and running 255 wide tires in the front........PROBLEM!!!
