Default 2005 Mustang GT Sumitomo tire question

I'm about to order some new tires and tirerack warned me that the size i picked for the tire was a bit off.

I'm getting some Sumitomo HTR Z II 255/45/17.I have the stock 17 inch bullitts on my GT. Is this going to be a problem?

I was under the impression that the 255's were the widest tire that you could mount on the stock bullitts. Its might just be a problem with the Summito's since i have heard that some tires can be wider than others yet mounted on the same rim. Most of the time i think it had to deal with DR's

You probably want to run a 255-50-17 to maintain tire height as close to stock as possible.

On tire rack there is no 255/50/17 listed on the website for Sumitomo HTR Z 2s.

Do you want that exact tire for any reason?
In the price range of those you could look at the Fuzion ZRI's
They come in a 255/50

BTW I went that brand because Sumitomos came highly recommened and for the price you can't beat it. $90 a tire is awesome. I didn't want to spend over $100 a tire just yet.

I'm curious, if I run the 255/45/17 should I change the settings on my SCT tune in the revs/mile option and what should I change it to? Tire rack has the specs on the tire listed as 799 revs/mile, should this be the number I input into the tuner I assume?

A little on the smaller diameter side for my liking, but yes, in the tuner you will set it at 800. I believe it only goes by 5's
