Default Opinion on Wheels & Tires

I am considering the following wheels for my 2008 Vapor Clearcoat Metallic Mustang:

Anthracite 2005+ Deep Dish Bullitt Wheel (18x10) Rear

Anthracite 2005+ Deep Dish Bullitt Wheel (18x9) Front
and I am also considering these tires:

NITTO Extreme Performance NT555 Tire 285/40-18 Rear

NITTO Extreme Performance NT555 Tire 255/45/18 Front

This combination is recommended by American Muscle, I currently running 17 inch wheels and with this rear tire size the speedo is pretty much right on Reads 60 actually traveling 59.6

What I am asking is your opinion on wheels & tires, looks & performance!

Thanks
Major

They look nice but they are like belly buttons.

I have a buddy that has the 18x10s in the rear and he got the recomended tire size from American Muscle and is now upgrading the tires. The wheels look great but the 10" wheel is screaming for more tire. I would recomend going up to atleast a 295 but prolly more like a 305. It all depends on what tire you are running. From what i have heard the 555r's run a little narrow so i would definately get a 305 or you will prolly find your self wishing you had down the road.

As for the front I would run a 275 prolly...

Sometimes less is more. They will go VERY well with the color of his car. I run those tire sizes on my Mustang and they work great. You will definitely want to lower the car (if it's not already) after switching rims/tires to get that perfect look. Bullitt wheels look so good on a mustang especially with some fat rubber in the back.

So many people buy rims cause they think they are cool looking but forget that they don't go well with the car at all.

i went with a 35 in the back and 40 in the front, what i didnt like when i put the rims and tires on was there was a gap in between the tires and the fender. so i had to throw on some eibach spring and even it out. but rember it all about what u want so check out all the site and get some examples.

I have chrome on my 07 Vette, which I like very much but for the Mustang I wanted a different wheel. As far as slowing me down I am much more into show than go!

What's the weight difference between the deep dish bullits and the stock 17" wheels?

Agree that 295-45s would be better on the back.

The tire size recommended by AM is 285/14-18, has a 11.22 inches tread width & 4.5 Inch sidewall

The 295/45-18 has a tread width of 11.61 inches & a sidewall of 5.2 inches

Why is this better, because it fills in more of the wheel gap (taller)? Is there a performance reason, due to more tire on the road, I always thought a narrow side wall was better for cornering?

Any assistance would be appreciated as I want to make the right decison on this before I put my money down!

AM doesn't carry that size and there is more tire between the road and the rim so you get a little bit better ride. The tire is wider and just looks better. Its also the closer tire to the stock tire size.

Will that create extra tire wear? I remember guys saying if it's not the optimal size for the rim, then the tires wont wear right.
