2006 Mustang GT with 20" Razors: Something is Wrong!
Ok, I've had the Razors on my car for little over a week now and something isn't right. It took 3 trips to the tire shop to get them on without having air coming out. http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forum...ml#post1333152
But again, something isn't right. Normal driving seems, normal. But when I get on the highway at around 65+ the rear end is wobbling all over the place. I feel like the wheels are going to flying off the car in different directions.
On top of that, I know have a bird chirping sound coming from the rear end that I hear when I decelerate.
1st off.... hey!!! nice wheels!!! reminds me of.... me!!
as far as the wobble, there are a couple of issues: 1st the tires may be out of balance... frequently, they (tire stores) will place "stick on" weights to balance the tires and you may have lost one....
or, and i hate to think this, but one or more of your rims may be out of round... what size/type tire are you running on the 20s??

I'm running 255/35/20 all around..they definitely used those stick on weights, saw a bunch of them when I was checking my air pressure yesterday. Well, I'm going to the tire shop this afternoon and hopefully they can figure it out. And hopefully nothing is wrong with the wheels.
my tires are falken 255/35/20s and i'm running them at 44 psi
prolly go up to 275/35/20 on the rear in the future... hope the tire place does right by you...

I work at a tire store and we recently put a set of 19's on a jaguar and that guy had the same problem, what we did to solve was 1st, we fingered the wheels on the balancer (tire stores will know what this means) we also roadforced them. Nothing was bent or out of rounds. What we did to fix the problem was we had to get Hub Centric Rings which fit around the hub and the inside of the wheel. Doing this centers the wheel onto the hub which is a big problem on 99% of aftermarket wheels, we also torqued the wheels while the car was still in the air because this also helps to center an aftermarket wheel. PRESTO problem solved.
btw hub centric rings are about 40 dollars for a set
Not sure if those wheels require the centering ring, but if so definitly a problem, good call.
Another common issue with the aftermarket wheels is when you put them on the car there's one, maybe 2 studs that have a small metal clip that's used on the assembly line to hold the rotor on.
The Oe wheels have a space in the lug holes that allows room for the wheel to be placed on the car and not touch the clip.
The aftermarket wheel may not have that space and you are mounting the wheel on the car and its not sitting flush up against the rotor.
I circled the area that usually has the clip around the stud, I use to have a photo of one with a stud on it still but cannot find it.
But pull the wheels and with something like side cutters yank off all the clips, you don't need them.
Thanks for all the input everybody. Turns out the washer was my problem. The car is driving very smooth now that I've removed them. Hard to believe that such a small thing would make such a difference.
Another thing about the new wheels, since I had them installed I've had a "bird chirp" sound coming from the rear end. Turns out that was being caused by the washer as well.
Anyway, I took a picture of it for future reference.

You sir, are my hero today. after 3 trips to 3 different tire stores to check and rebalance the 20" Magnum 500 wheels and check wheel alignment and no one could figure out why there was a vibration I was about to toss these wheels and tires and put the stock back on. As a last ditch effort I searched the forums and came upon your post. HOLY CRAP!!! I could not believe that those silly little clips were causing me such trouble, however it makes perfect sense!
