Default Should i get wide tires? 2007 Mustang V6

Hey wats up every one? here is my deal i have an 07 mustang v6 (graduation present) i have 20" rims on it and it slides all over the place in the rain. When i had the original wheels and tires on it it never did that. My brother owns a 2002 Camaro SS and his has some 275/45/r17 wheels and tires and he has no deal with it in the rain. My brother suggested trying the original tires and wheels' but my question is will wider wheels and tires help? Why do alot of people put wider tires? Also i went to lesschwab tires and they told me wider tires would mess up my traction and ABS. is this true? please help me i really need help with this.

Wider tires are not good in the rain mud or snow.
Reason being is that they cant "cut" through the stuff as easy. They tend to ride on it instead of through it.
Some size rims will mess up the computer which will tell the abs what to do. I've havent heard any problem with 20" rims on mustangs giving the abs trouble.

Could also be the brand of tire.
Have you looked at the ratings for wet traction?

What kind of tires to you have on your new rims? Some tires do better than others in rain.

Wider tires help give you traction because you have more friction keeping the tires stuck rather than spinning. The advantages are felt more in ambient temperatures, not rain, mud, snow, or ice. I have heard (this isn't personal experience) that adding wider tires to a vehicle that doesn't need them not only slows it down due to weight, but also the added force necessary to turn them increases. Hope this helps.

It's a mix of both. A less wider rim will help, but also what type of tire your running also. A tire that has more gaps in the tread will help getting rid of the water ect. Less gaps and more ruber suck in bad weather. Your stock tire should be a all season. I'd try the stock if you have them.
If not and the roads are wet just take off alittle bit slower from a start and when turning. I have this problem all the time. I just kinda live and learn to deal with it.
