Default Bought New Wheels, need tire size help

I bought some 18 inch 5 spoke wheels, which are essentially the ones that come on the Bullitt, only black. I'm unsure as to what size tire I should get, as in 255/40/18 or what. I'd like some BFG g-Force KDWs but need to know how big to go. I like the wide look and hate when people ride around on rubber bands. I guess those are my two criteria. Any help?

How wide are the wheels? I would probably go wider though, a 275/35 should clear the rear ok, not sure on the front though. They clear on 94-04 cars, don't see why they wouldn't on 05 up

Default tire width

if your wheels are 8.5" wide (advertised dim) then your rim outside total dim is probably 9.5" wide.

you can then take 9.5" x 25.4 (to convert to mm) = 241.3 mm wide rim.

then you can add about 1/4" each side of wheel for the tire to overhang to protect your rim from curbs and you have

1/4" = 6.35mm x 2 = 12.7mm

241.3mm + 12.7mm = 254mm wide tire

the closest to that is a 255 series tire...

my advise is to get a tire that is at least 1/2" wider than the total rim width to protect the rim. if you get a 1" to 2" wider tire than the total rim width the tires start bulging out to much and might cause premature tire wear in the center . if you get tires less than 1/2" wider than rim then you might be exposing the rim too much and will get beat up from curbs. Also the aspect ratio plays an impt rol since it controls the height of the tire.

anyone got opinions on the tires I should get? BFGoodrich g-Force KDW seems like a beautiful tire. I know I don't need Z rated, but they're sweet lookin. Anyone got experience with these or a better (lower priced) tire?

BFGoodrich Tires | g-Force™ T/A® KDW | Tire Sizes & Specs

Stock tire height (to keep your speedo reading right) is 27"
on a 18" wheel this is the recommended tire (min recommended wheel width is 8.5 inches):
255/45ZR18 which is 27 inches tall. KDW are W or Y rated tires.

I have similar tires on my car (255/35ZR20).
Pros: Extreme handling (9 rating dry, 8 wet)
Excellent traction
Cons: Noisy (so is my exhaust so I don't care)
CANNOT BE USED ALL-SEASON (0 rating in snow - probably not a major concern in Louisiana)
Fairly poor tread life. I drive pretty easy on them so I expect 20+k miles (I have 9k) but we will see.
