Exclamation new rims, grinding noise

OK, so i just installed my new set of 18" Bullitt rims but there seems to be a problem.

Every time i turn my wheel close to its max or either to make a u-turn there's a grinding noise and it gets kinda bumpy, i looked under the car and turned the wheel at the same time but found nothing to be grinding against each other. I thought maybe the lugs were to tight but when i losened them it still made the noise. I then felt around the inside of the rim and it seems to be very close to the caliper, i dont know if thats even a reason to worry because the guy that i bought them from said that shouldnt be a problem and these rims and tires should fit perfectly. The Tires size reads : 235/50/18..that is if i'm reading it correctly. They are BFgoodrich. PLEASE PLEASE HELP!

What is the wheel's offset? If its too much or too little, you'll have the problem you are currently having lol.

I recently changed out my sons rims on his V-6 with 18 inch rims and they rubbed on the caliper. I had to grind off a little of the caliper brace at the spot closest to the hub. Another suggestion I received was to let it go and it would wear of the rim where it rubbed. After grinding a little of the brace all is good now.

Rim size ?

Did you change the steering stops as Ford suggests when going to 18's - part# 6R3Z-3932-CA

from the FRP site:
If you are upgrading from 16" or 17" wheels to 18x8.5 or 18x9.5 inch wheels, use these steering stops to avoid clearance issues.

Two steering stops are required per vehicle; one for the LH and one for the RH wheel.

Unless you installed the steering stops (inside the Rack and Pinion) for the 18" wheels, I would suspect it's the tires rubbing on the frame rails when fully turned.

look for signs of wear. Shinny spots on the rims or calipers and in the wheel wells signs of abrasions from the tires rubbing the inside of the fenderwells. Also check the tires for scrapes. Thats a start to see where something is rubbing.

Humm that information is good to know. I haven't heard or read that before. I guess I got lucky, I didn't have any problems. Thanks for posting GrayPony.

Yea its the tire rubbing against the fenderwall. I was gonna install the steering stop but none of the ford dealers knew what I was talking about. I even gave them a part number... Anyways its not a big deal unless you turn the wheel 100% full lock. Also make shure the factory brake calipers have been grinded or worn down. Good Luck!
