Have you tried doing a search on this? I'm pretty sure I have seen some tire discussion in the past. you may also want to check out www.tirerack.com and read reviews by them.

+1 on tirerack. The Sumitomo HTR-ZIII's are pretty good. They're fairly cheap ($100 or so), and have good traction in wet and dry conditions. I like them more than the Nitto's that I had before, but those were close to being bald, and hard when I bought the car. Can't really say anything about noise due to exhaust...

x2 exactly

I was hesitant at first to go with Sumi's, but I couldn't justify spending upwards of $300 (F-1's) per tire in 315's. You'll find the choices are limited in that size if that's what you're running. I read where some people were only getting only 12-15K miles out of the Sumi's. I have close to 25K on mine with enough left for another 8 or 9. When these are finally gone I'll get them again.

I love my Sumi's I am running 8# of boost and have a set of 255-40-ZR17's on mine. The HTRZ IIIs are great in hot weather, but be careful in cold weather though.. I can spin 3rd from a roll if I put it to the floor, but that is because they are a summer tire.

I've got 8# of boost too........when I'm blowing through a straw
I haven't swapped wheels/tires since I got the Sumi's so I've been through 2 winters but my car never sees snow. I've noticed it's easier to spin them in the winter but as for grip in turns I haven't noticed a difference.

I'm only expecting 12,000 miles max on these tires, but they're pulling double duty as autocross/road racing tires, so that's understandable. I've put on about 5,000 miles so far with a decent amount of tread left (well over half). I'm dedicating a set of tires for racing and for daily driving next, so we'll see how long those last in each situation, since I think I'm getting sumitomos on each set of wheels.
