Default 1985 Mustang GT Magnesium Wheels

Good evening ladies and gentelmen, I am having alot of trouble finding 15 inch 4 lug mags for my mustang. My question is can I go to 16 inch wheels and if so how wide can I go? How hard is it to convert to 5 lug? What other ford product wheels will fit my mustang? Thanks

You have a lot of options if you go with a 5-lug conversion. You can use almost any 5 lug wheel as long as you get the right backspacing/offsets. You could probably get away with 8 inch wide, MAYBE 9 inch but you get into fenderwell rub with the 9 inch so you would probably opt to get steering limiters. Keep in mind, most 5 lug wheels wont let you use center caps on the front. Mostly because the size of the spindle. And, you would probably have to use wheel spacers on the fronts too to get them away from contact with the spindle and the hole in the center of the rim.

I think factory 4 lug 16" pony rims would fit right on there with no rubbing problems whatsoever. They are plentiful in the used market like on ebay and they look real nice. You wouldn't have to convert to 5 lug then and you would get the performance and looks of a 16" wheel.
