Will a 245/45/17 tire fit on a 17x9 in rim?
What wud be some effects of it if it fits?

yes it will BFGoodrich recommends a rim size from 7.5 to 9 for that sizes tire. if might be better to go-up one size to 255 for a better fit thats just my .02

yeah you definitely want to go with at least a 255 for the width. i have 17 by 8s and the tires for mine are 245 45 17 and that tire is just about the same width as my rim.

17X9 can run up to 295 normally. Anything over and you may spin the tire on the rim if you have enough tq. I have actually seen a 315 mounted - talk about a stance, it looked like a ballon - lol

and i just got new tires for the winter a few months ago thats why im asking...back then i didnt really think i wanted to get new rims...change of heart now haha

03-04 cobra wheel is 17X9 - comes with 275/40/17 - if your going with those wheels, then its no problem.

he wants to know if he can put 245 45s on the rims he wants to buy. cuz those are the tires he already has and does not want to pay for new ones. i dont think he can as they are just big enough for 17 x8s. but yeah anything bigger should be good.

though, i think you could probably find cobra style rims in a 17 x8 if you looked hard enough. and then you'd definitely be set.
