Should I worry about rubbing or ride comfort with this setup? Also, I recently had an alignment done when I had the stock rims/tires but would I need to get another? I'm putting these rims on an 05 V6 limer that I'll never part with.

I went from 16in to 18x8.5in ford blades wrapped in 235-55-r18 and was told i would be fine but they do rub on the inside of the tire when i turn the wheel to lock. There is some type of steering stop youre suposed to install when going up in size but like i siad the dealer and local tire shop siad id be fine. To be honest i didnt even notice for a couple of weeks until i got in a tight parking lot and have easly avoided doing it since.
People were telling me it would be a major issue so it's good to know that rubbing wouldn't be much of a concern otherwise.
I was already recommended to get my fenders rolled though, but I wasn't sure if it would be necessary since I feel like alot of shops are out to make some cash. Do you guys think it would be necessary in my case?
Mine just rubs a little. I dont know the variation in offsets but I see that you are going with a wider wheel and wider tire and i could see how it could possibly become a major issue.
From what I have been told and this is the reason I wont own 18" wheels but the tires for these wheels are expensive. Where Im from its almost cheaper to buy a set of tires for 20" wheels than 18" even though I would never put a set of wheels on a vehicle thats bigger than 17" I like 18" but tires are to much and anything over 18" looks retarded. This is just a preference my opinion. If your worried about rubbing why didnt you just go with a 17"....atleast in the front?

They wont rub. But a 285/40/18 is not recommended on a 9" wheel. Our fenders are rolled from the factory. Give it a feel!
I have and many others have 285/40/18's on 10" wheels on lowered cars with no fender rubbing issue.
Agree 100%. I have same tire sizes as the OP, am lowered and have no rubbing issues.
One thing to note, its not only the tires, its also the width and offset of the wheels.

Thanks for all of the help, everyone. I went ahead with 245/45/18s since that was cheaper than other options. I'm happy with how the car came out! I'll post some pictures after some other work I'm getting done is finished. I'm currently getting both bumpers changed to the GT bumpers. I'm getting them changed because the rear bumper's paint was messed up following a hit and run so I figured I might as well get everything else done while I'm at it. I'm also getting my rocker moldings painted. It should all come out pretty well when it's done tomorrow.
