Default 15" tire sizes

OK got a85 fox body with all 87 suspension. It had 225-60-15 when I got it. Went to 255-60-15 I love the traction and looks but they rub too much. What is the biggest tire I can put on with out rubbing. I would like wide and fill the fender wells. I have 15 X 7 turbine wheels.

i just put 255/60/15.....on my 84..and they rubbed a little bit when i went over bumps or put a load on the suspension....i mounted them on welds draglite 15x8..with 0 backspacing.... i just rolled the lip a little...they rubbed about a 5" space on my lips.....but no problems now......fixed it today. but a 15x7 with a 255/60/15 is almost overkill on that 7' wheel.

15 x 7 Welds with BFG 235/60/15 Traction T/A's or Drag Radials on the rear. Removed the rear horizontal shocks to alleviate slight rubbing on them. Tires clear the fender lip at the top of the tire by the width of 2 of my fingers, now (I have big fingers). Don't have any experience with 255's.

No engine in the car when this was taken.

A 255 tire really needs at least an 8.5" rim to be safe. 235s would fit well and still give a fender filling look. The handling will probably be sharper with this size as well.

Default already been done.

Carol Shelby solved this one with a porta-power, a 2x4 and a sandbag back in '68. Got some big meats on the BOSS 302 that way.

If it don't fit, you must stretch it.

I totally agree but I think the issue here is that a 7¨ wide rim cannot properly support a tire this wide. The safe widths for this tire starts at about 8¨. Perhaps a set of NASCAR style 15¨ wheels in the right width would be an economical way to get a radical lookl
