Default Largest Wheel/Tire Combo Under an 05?

I just bought a bone stock 2005 GT Convertible. It has factory 17" wheels. Factory ride height.

I'm seeing lots of "bolt on" 20X9 (front) and 20X10 (rear sets).

I assume these will fit stock ride height cars. I want to go a bit lower, like 2 inches?

1) What's the biggest tire/wheel set that will work at factory height?
2) With the car an inch lower?
3) Wheel well mods required???

Advice please.

JW

I've got 20x8.5" rims and I plan on lowering my car 1.5". Everything should fit perfect.

They should fit without mods to the wheel wells as long as you get the right wheel offset for that car. I have 295/45/18s and they fit with no problems. I've heard of 305s fitting.

I'm lowered with Eibach prokit running staggered 20's, 255/40/20 fronts with 295/40/20 rears. You can run a 305/35 with the pro kit no problem.

I have several friends of mine with the Eibach Sportlines which is 1.7" - 2.3". Here's a pic of Joes with 20's (yellow)...You have to get the right size tires, you're concern is the overall diameter doesn't matter on the size of the wheel. I like my 20's, here's a pic of mine with the prokit and 40 series Toyo's (orange)

Is that the "Cragar S/S 20's" set found on the American Muscle website? I love those wheels. Do you have the 9's and 10's?

I'm thinking of going with the Eibach springs, (1.5"), and these wheels, with 305 rears...

No inside wheel-well scrub in the corners?

The wheels are Boyds, staggered 8.5 (255/40/20) and 10's (295/40/20). The rear's rub sometimes on the lower front quarter panel over rough train tracks and huge potholes, thats why I'm going to go with the 305/35/20 next time around. Should be a little shorter side wall then the 40 series I'm running now.
