I have 17x8 rims on my car right now. I'm planning on changing the tires and not the rims. My current setup is my tires are 235 50 17. Would there be any benefit going with a wider tire than 235? If so, how high do you suggest? Thanks.

Too small of diameter! 255/50/17 or get bigger wheels.
I already ordered them lol. Why is it too small? You think its going to show too much fender gap? I figured that much, I'm eventually going to lower the car to make up for that. Right now traction is my main concern since with my new gears its none existant lol.

yeah, just to small for these cars. Plus the diameter change will effect the speedo which I see you can fix. And your final gear will end up somewhere like 4.33's vs your 4.10's.
Also that size has a lower load rating. You will need to pump a few more pounds of air in them to be better off.
245/45 is the sn95 size.
