Default 2005 Mustang GT Question About Switching to 18" Rims

Hello! I'm new to the forum. I have stock 17" rims w/ machine finish, but I'm interested in switching to the 18 x 8.5 inch rims w/ the polished finish. Does anyone know if I'll have any problems, such as clearance or a need for recalibration?

welcome to the forum!

if you go 18 inch your speedo will be off unless you get a shorter side wall tire. or a tuner will fix that and add power!!!!

clearance should be ok

Default Side Wall

I was thinking of 18/50/35 just like ford regularly does on its option. Would that work too?

you would still be slightly off..

but it might only be a matter of a few MPH

def dont go bigger than an 18 inch rim

i think youll be ok but id reccomend getting a tuner

tehe ( i got new sized tires im sorry i was speeding i dident know ) exuse dont work its your duty to correct speedos.

Default No 20 Inch Rims

Right, I'm only interested in the 18 inch wheel. I bought it used in 2006 w/ 8,000 miles on it and simply assumed that I could put the bigger rims on it. I'm a few months away from actually doing it, but I"ll definitely get a tuner if I do (the whole process seems more and more complex... a little bit earlier, I read that I need to buy steering stops too).

i dunno bout steering stops i jsut know itl fit and u need to recalibrate

nows a good time to get a CAI and tuner combo, pick up 20 HP ish then when u go bigger make an adjustment and go to town!
